Wellington County Commitment
What we want to protect is a shared vision.
The Wellington County Official Plan aligns with what we also want to preserve and protect. (The Plan is a legal document intended to give direction over the next 20 years.)
This county plan serves as the local plan for the township of Puslinch and applies to the Puslinch by Design Study.
Residents appreciate the opportunity given to have a say in the "Puslinch by Design" study that will affect the very future of Puslinch. We know that council values the rural character of Puslinch that we all love and want to preserve. The Puslinch website (www.puslinch.ca) makes this clear with the quote "Our residents know that Puslinch is the ideal place to call home with its laid back country feel". In addition, the final scope of work for the Puslinch by Design study talks of "employment lands in the right location", located to "be compatible with the surrounding area and help maintain the rural character of the area". Residents and government all want the same things for Puslinch and we believe that council will honour statements and commitments made in the Official Plan, thus placing industry strategically within the township.
In summary they both want to:
Preserve the rural character and "laid back country feel".
Protect nature and the environment - forests, wetlands, environmental sensitive areas, wildlife habitats.
Preserve farmland.
Maintain the Official Plan commitment to support partnerships among landowners and government to promote land stewardship.
Foster healthy communities and the physical, mental and social well being of the residents.
Direct growth to urban areas and in particular those with municipal sewer and water services.
